Green Shieldbug (Palomena prasina) – Looking through my living window yesterday evening I noticed this bug had got the most comfortable and fashionble bed for the night, cosily nestled right in the centre of one of my Camellia blossoms. Now that’s what I call sleeping in style. Double-click image to get closer, but please be quite so as not to wake him.

Maybe not a bed of roses, but camellia petals look very comfy just the same.

I found one yesterday on one of my plants. Do they damage plants?

I have have always had them in my gardens but they don’t appear to be causing me any problems. In very large numbers they can cause problems, but they are not considered a pest. A link below with more info might help.

Oh, what a beauty. Must be a lady, at least that is what I think, when I see her amazing choice for her bed. Lovely, Pete
