Description
Body length 1.2-1.8 mm. A tiny spider where the globular abdomen colour and markings are quite variable ranging from light through to dark.

Life History
The common name ‘Sputnik Spider’ refers to the spikey shaped egg-sac which resembles the first artificial Earth satellite Sputnik 1.

When Seen, Habitat, Status & Distribution
Seen April to September, and found in trees and bushes in various habitats including gardens. Abundant and widespread throughout.
