Family Tetragnathidae (Long-jawed orbweb spiders)

Body length 6-11 mm.

Very similar to other Tetragnatha species and detailed microscopic examination is required for accurate identification, hence the image is only representitive of the species. An elongated spider with variable colouring. Less closely associated with wetland habitats than the very similar T. extensa.

Seen March to September, and found in low vegetation, bushes and trees where it spins its web. Abundant and widespread in southern Britain, less so further north.
