Family Pamphiliidae (Web-spinning sawflies) » Neurotoma saltuum (Linnaeus, 1758)
Length of larva 25 mm. The larva form silken webs and not only feed on pear, but also apple and hawthorn and cotoneaster, amongst other trees and shrubs. When fully grown the larvae will go down into the soil to pupate. In the following spring the black and yellow coloured adult sawflies will emerge.
