Family Philodromidae (Running crab spiders)

Also referred to as the wandering crab spider, the markings are very variable. Microscopic examination of the genitalia is necessay to confirm identification of all species of the Philodromus genus.

Seen spring and summer, and found in various habitats, including woodland, hedgrows, gardens and even occasionally in houses. Common and widespread thoughout Britain. This is probably the commonest member of the genus.
