Length 4 mm.

A fairly large springtail which has a distinctive yellowish band across the third abdominal segment. Seen all year round, it feeds on plant detritus.

Found in various habitats including gardens, under rocks, stones and plant pots. Common and widespread throughout the British Isles. A native species.
