Forewing length 10-12 mm. A small and variable coloured moth, but generally more rufous or sandy-coloured than the other ‘minors’. The larva feeds on different species of grasses. The adult flies June and July, and is found in marshes, damp woodland and on river banks. Also seen in gardens where it may be attracted to light. Common and widespread.
