Gwynne’s Mining Bee – Andrena bicolor

FW length 6-8 mm.

A small to medium mining bee with a gingery thorax and dark abdomen.

It is seen in two generations from from March to May and then from late June to August. Found in various habitats including grassland, open woodland areas and gardens. One of the commonest mining bees, mainly occuring throughout lowland districts.
