Family Aleyrodidae – Whiteflies

19 UK species. As the name suggests, these are typically ‘white’ flies, and they are very small at just 1-2 mm long. They are covered entirely in a white wax secretion. The Cabbage Whitefly (Aleyrodes proletella) is probably the best recognised as a pest on brassicas.
