Family Julidae

Length 20-30 cm.

A large millipede, it is dark brown with brassy edges to the segments and no rear-pointing projection on the telson.

Seen all year round, it feeds on decaying plant material.

It is often associated with human settlements and cultivation, including gardens, parks and churchyards. Common in the south-east of England.
