Length 20-30 mm.
A large millipede, it is dark brown with brassy edges to the segments and no rear-pointing projection on the telson (tail-end).
It feeds on decaying plant material. Seen throughout the year. Often associated with human settlements and cultivation, including gardens, parks and churchyards. Common in the south-east of England.
