Canada Goose – Branta canadensis

The Canada Goose is not native to the UK, but it is our most familar and easily recognisable goose. It has a black neck and head, and grey-brown back and white cheek patches.

Common across most of the country, they can be seen on ponds, canals, lakes and rivers. They were introduced from North America about 300 years ago. They can live for up to 6 years.
