Family Noctuidae » Subfamily Plusiinae » Diachrysia chrysitis (Linnaeus, 1758) 73.012 (BF2434)
Wingspan 28-35 mm. This is quite an outstanding moth with its metallic colouring and unusual form. It visited my garden at dusk last night to feed on Red Valerian. The larva feeds on herbaceous plants, especially Common Nettle. The adult flies June to September, and can be seen in various habitats including hedgerows and gardens. Common and widespread.
