Family Noctuidae » Subfamily Xyleninae » Lithophane leautieri (Boursin, 1957) 73.206 (BF2240)
Forewing length 17-20 mm. Quite a narrow winged, greyish-brownish moth with dark streaks and a flushed pinkish-brown kidney marking. The adult flies September and November, and is very much attracted to light sources. Found in parks and gardens where the larva foodplant cypress grows. This is a fairly recent colonist. It was first discovered on the Isle of Wight in 1951, and has spread northwards fairly quickly.
