Wingspan 27-32 mm. An attractive moth with autumnal colours and a very diagnostic yellow or yellow-orange central band. The larva feeds on Beech and Field Maple. The adult flies September to November, and is attracted to light. Found in woodland, hedgerows and gardens. Common and widespread in the south and south-east, more local elsewhere, and scarce in Scotland.
