Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) are often taken for granted, but I hadn’t seen one for quite sometime. So when I came across several males and females on the local canal they were a pure delight to see as they paddled across the still waters with autumn reflections.

I love mallards! They’re such social birds, and so willing to make friends with us — sometimes even if we don’t have a handful of bread!

So common that people tend to pay them no mind but they are lovely ducks and I am always happy to see them. Nicely captured, Pete.

Can’t go wrong with Mallards, Peter. Or reflections! The male’s head is so fascinating to watch as they turn into and out of the light as they go about their business.

I agree 100%. Mallards are among the avian rock stars 😃😃. I don’t see them often either, the are smart enough to avoid the wilds and stay in their own safe parks filled with children and free food.

They aren’t as daffy ducks as the cartoons make them out to be … knowing what’s best for them 🙂

Hi Ark,
Thanks for asking. All okay. Just having a break from things and doing other stuff until spring kicks in.
Hope all is good with you there, friend?
