Hey You! Slow Down Will You?

Hello all! Sorry I have been away for so long, and thank you to those who have been enquiring after me! 🙂 A message popped up today that it was my WordPress.com Birthday – 5 years! Where have all those years gone!

I thought I would return with a bit of humour. This Small Black Ant Lasius niger had a keen interest in this Garden Snail Cornu aspersum, to such a degree it managed to get stuck inside its shell!

‘Flaming June’ is living up to its name here, and wherever you are in the world I hope you are all safe and well and enjoying your season! I am very much looking forward to catching up on your posts!

    This is so funny! We’ve had days of rain, and when I stepped out this morning, there were at least a hundred snails crawling up the walls next to my front door — and I thought of you! It’s good to see you, and these little friends.

      Hi Linda 🙂 I am glad you liked the humour, and thank you! It’s good to see you here again. I hope you are well, and the season is rolling out nicely there. It’s been a slow start here, with cold and rain, but the weather has certainly picked up now. I will look forward to catching up on your posts!

    Very happy to see a new post from you, Pete. Whatever kept you away I trust was not dire. I hope the ant came out of the shell in good order and didn’t cause the snail much itchiness. Congratulations on 5 years.

      Many thanks, Steve 🙂 I had left the ant and the snail alone on the wall, and when I went back later the snail had gone back into its shell and the ant was stuck in the gunge there … so I don’t think the ant faired too well, sadly. I guess the motto here is one must keep away from large slimy things unless you want to become permanently part of them. Hope all is well there, Steve!

    A great shot (as always) and nice angle to compare size between the ant the snail.

    I’m so glad to see a new post from you, Pete. I was becoming most concerned about your well-being and only yesterday (yes, only yesterday, so I must have had a premonition) I looked up your blog site to see if I’d accidentally become un-followed or something.

    In the process, I went through the settings of every blog I follow and discovered I hadn’t re-followed about 12 nature/photography blogs from my last surgery ‘disconnect’.

    (I’ll be offline again for open-heart surgery in the coming month so my new ‘quote/archive image’ blog will be silent for a while too).

      I am still under the docs. They can’t fathom me out, and covid has set everything back.

        Sorry to hear you’re still not 100%. It can be a bit of a worry when the Docs don’t know, but our hearts are tricky things. I knew I’d have to have heart surgery eventually, so it wasn’t unexpected.

        Yes, COVID has really set many us ‘adrift’ in our regular everyday activities, let alone those who work.

    Nice to see you, Peter, here in the blogosphere and congrats on five years! That is about the same five years Ted and I have lived in South Carolina, seems like just yesterday we moved.
