Around teatime today around a dozen Goldfinches flocked around my bird feeder, something I have never seen before, as I normally get 2 or 3 of them visit. This young one decided to have a look at my pond and came face-to-stony-face with this fellow. In the end it must have thought all was okay and decided to have a brief swim.
Nature Journeys 
It seems that the last winter has been very favorable for Goldfinch. I have never seen so many as this year with significantly more nests even inside the city.

Very cute! We have a finch feeder in our back yard. Almost always has visitors of either finches, or doves precariously perched on the edge, steeling a snack! Finches are so cute!

I only put white sunflower hearts in my feeders, which the finches love of course. Goldfinches and Greenfinches are the main visitors to my feeders, but the Woodpigeons have given up their acrobatics trying to get some out the feeders and settle for what is dropped below 🙂

We see them here, too. There is a group of about a half-dozen that appear fairly regularly, but I’ve yet to get a good image of one of them. One of these days…
