Nymphaea alba – After my last post I thought something a little lighter was required, so here are 2 photos of this lovely lily, which I saw the same day as the snake on the local canal. The lily will only open in bright sunshine, which obviously brings its own challenges when photographig satin white petals.

Great shots of the water lily. They can be difficult to photograph in the white form once the sun hits them. I especially like the dark background of the second shot – makes each petal of the flower more distinct. Gives one a feeling of looking into a secret place that is only revealing a tiny part of itself to draw you into the frame.

What an eventful walk, first an incredible encounter and then this lovely lily. Always pays to have a camera handy.

It was my intention that day to seek out and photograph pondweeds in and around he canal, but yes, it was quite an eventful walk 🙂

It’s interesting that the first photo doesn’t seem at all ‘busy.’ Those other elements could have overwhelmed the flower, but they didn’t — nicely done!

So lovely Pete! Isn’t it amazing what can bloom from beneath the water. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with emotions I feel like I am literally drowning. I remind myself of the water lilies when I need to because if they can survive and thrive I can too. Thank you for this beautiful reminder that it is going to be ok.
