Malva moschata – We have had some unusally high winds for this time of the year recently, so bad that when I spotted this in a local field I couldn’t photograph it until today.

They are so nice I have them at my old cottage that I have for studio, but mine only have buds no one in bloom.

They are such a beautiful pink, and hopefully soon they will be blooming in their full glory at your cottage 🙂

A pretty flower. We seem to be in the season for mauve flora! Scabious and centaury out down here.

Good old reliable musk mallow. We have been having unusually high winds for June.

The winds have been driving me crazy as it has been nigh impossible to photograph some subjects. It appears to have calmed now, though.

We have both pink and white of these scented beauties. They self-sow like crazy, but they are still worth having, IMO. 🙂

I would love to have these in the garden! 🙂

The seed is easy to collect…just wait for the pods to brown and crack open a bit. A pod or two will yield many seeds. Most wildflowers are easy to collect and propagate by seed.

Very pretty– it reminds me a little bit of the wild rose that grows near our cabin.

They are pretty, and this was only one plant amidst several local fields.

Very interesting. One of our most common native wildflowers just now is the swamp rose mallow, Hibiscus moscheutos. As you can see from this article, it takes on both pink and white forms. It’s quite hardy, too — it stretches up the east coast, and isn’t confined to tropical areas.

Thank you for the link, Linda. That is one magnificent mallow, and a big one, too.

Two lovely shots of a lovely flower, Pete. The stamens of the first gave me the impression there was a spider on the flower.

Thank you, Steve. The stamens are quite something on these and do stand out.
