Poppy Love

Common Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) – Kind of like the old Donny Osmond hit back in the early 70’s (for those of us who can remember – or even want to remember) but poppies and not puppies. I love these – poppies – and as soon as I see that bright scarlet red out amidst the sea of green grasses in the fields and meadows I aways make a b-line for them. This one was the only one I could see, and it was a beauty.

Poppies are so beautiful and quite so common here in Malta, mostly red or pink/purple. It’s a very nice one you show us here.

What an absolute beauty, Pete. I especially like the way the subtle background emphasizes its color, even while picking up the tones of the stamens.

Thank you, Linda. I would have liked a bit more depth of field, but sometimess a little detail can add to an image which gives an indication to the nature of an environment.

Beautiful shot, Pete. I don’t know if I have ever seen poppies in the wild, but I am attracted to them when I visit gardens. I last one I saw at a garden was a bright orange in color.
