Bombus vestalis – There are a few of these around and about at the moment. It’s a cuckoo-bee which grows up in the nests of the Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris). Note the conspicuous yellow patch on either side of the abdomen, and also the lack of pollen baskets.

Ahh.. I love Bumblebees, they look so soft and kind and your photos as great as usual.
I myself have tried to capture them with my camera but they usually prefer to hide among the flowers. Have a post going on about it.

Thank you, Anita. I love bumblebees, too, from their buzzing to their bumbling around the garden, going from flower to flower. They are a challenge to photo, and luck plays a part sometimes as well as patience 🙂
