Bluebell Wood

There is a narrow and winding dirt path which leads through the lower part of the woods. At this time of the year there is enchantment in the form of a lush carpet of bluebells.

The bluebell carpet in our ancient woods never seems anything less than magical, no matter how many years you see it! A very special feature of our countryside.

What a lovely sight. The dappled shade looks very enticing too.

I well remember the bluebells when I lived in Sussex in 1978.

I always enjoy pictures of paths (the mystery of where they are leading to) and this one is enhanced by the carpet of bluebells.

I love the blue bells, we are going mushroom hunting this weekend. I am looking forward to seeing the bluebells. They should be out by now. I am sure I will see more of those than mushrooms. 🙂

That post immediately brought back memories of my childhood Pete. It has taken me a few days to re look at the photo and comment. I lived in a house that backed onto the old East grinstead railway and just a slip down the bank, across the old line and up the bank the other side would take me to a bluebell wood which will always be a wonderful memory. Of course now it is covered in houses but I will always remember it for what it meant to me as a child.

That is a wonderful memory Alison, and thank you you for sharing 🙂 It’s a shame it was built over. These havens for wildlife, peace and beauty are constantly under threat, sadly.
