Heart of The Cosmos

Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

    We need to see our world in perspective every now and then. I spent the afternoon photographing butterflies (trying to anyway) on an abandoned golf course while my son was playing his bagpipes – and I felt so ‘almost normal’ and ‘free’ for a little while.

      Nature has always had a healthy distraction for me, and in a time like this it is need now more than ever. I am happy you had a lovely time photographing butterflies 🙂

      Thank you, Julie 🙂 I have always liked Carl Sagan from a young age, especially his ‘Cosmos’ series. He really makes you think about things. I think we get a bit wrapped up and trapped up in our own little personal cosmoses … forgetting how much more is really out there 🙂
