The larger photos really do show so much more detail. I especially liked seeing the enlargement of the wings in the last photo.

Thank you Jane. It’s a fly, and a bee mimic to fool would be predators. Amazing at how adaptable nature can be.

I’ve grown increasingly fond of hoverflies, at least in part because the species I see most often are a little more willing to slow down for the camera. This is a handsome species, and the photos are delightful.
