White-lipped Snail Cepaea hortensis

Believe it or not this is the same species of snail which I posted previously. The shells can be quite variable.

    I love snails, especially their pretty shells. On walks, I’ll sometimes gather a few discarded shells. What I want to know is, are those “discarded” ones ever potentially a home for another snail that happens to come across it? In other words, should I leave the shells where they are?
