Season’s First

Coming home from work this afternoon I spotted this single Pencilled Cranes-bill Geranium versicolor, the first of the season, and just had to takes its picture.

Very beautiful Pete. I’ve really come to like geraniums now that I’ve had more to do with them. Last property we owned, we inherited Geranium maderense (pink form) and they were big and showy, amazing plants. I planted our (small mounding) native hybrid “Pink Spice” which is really gorgeous and looks like you can get it in the UK – I found a lovely picture here https://www.dobbies.com/products/plants/cottage-garden-plants/geranium-x-antipodeum-pink-spice/

Thank you, Jude 🙂 I have three types that come up every year here. One is purple and the other a paler pink colour. The purple do not flower for long, just through June, but these will now flower until the autumn.
