This quite an odd fungus. It is called Rusty Porecrust (Phellinus ferruginosus), and is a rusty-brown or gingery coloured, velvety resupinate. It is common and widespread, and found growing in irregular blobs on fallen branches and logs of deciduous trees.
November 2017, found on dead birch, local woods, Staffordshire, England.
I’m going to take your word for it that this is a Rusty Porecrust (Phellinus ferruginosus) but to me it looks like a large pork chop fried to a nice crisp golden brown. π

We had the chicken, now we have the pork chop, but this would not be very good to eat at all.

Strange. Looks like cinnamon on top…but I doubt
it is very tasty!

Strange you should mention cinnamon because there is a very similar fungus called Cinnamon Porecrust. Not one to eat. Very tough, and possibly poisonous.

Apparently it is quite tough and nasty, so not one to dine on π

How about a little tenderizer or overnight soak with some beans haha!

Ha ha! I think it might need more than that, lol! π

That does look very unusual. I like the irregularity of it.
