For the first time in my life, I looked at a spider and thought, “That’s got to be — a jumping spider.” And so it is. I had the thought because I found a large Phidippus regius , or regal jumping spider, out in the Texas hill country. It also was a little furry, black and white, and had that sort of chunky body.
It’s fun to start recognizing some of these little beauties, too.

Yes, it is a jumping spider. They tend to crawl along my garage or shed walls. Thank you for your comment 🙂
