Black Arches

Lymantria monacha – The image directly below shows a view of this moth we would not normally see, and its flashes of pinkish-red tufts on the abdomen. In the flipside below, and again looking at this extraordinarily beautiful moth in a different way, can you see the doggy cuddly toy?

What a treat, to see top and bottom. And those eyes! This is the second time I’ve noticed your mention of a moth trap. I’m not sure how it works, but at least it helps to explain how you manage to provide us with views of so many wonderful creatures!

I checked out your Garden Moths post, and Wow! I had no idea there were SO MANY different varieties of moths! Or that you were such a lepidopterist!

Such a cool word! And important to know so you don’t duplicate the mistake of the little boy that wanted to study moths. At the library, the librarian thought he was picking up a book for his mom because it was called “The Essential Guide for Mothers.”

Thank you for coming by, James ๐Ÿ™‚ I have quite an interest moths, amonngst other things, but would not call myself a lepidopterist ๐Ÿ™‚ Some would call me moth mad, lol!

๐Ÿ™‚ I like that ‘Mothers’. An easy mistake to make I should imagine ๐Ÿ™‚

The first shot must have been on glass? How interesting to see the underneath, moths are so fluffy! She has beautiful antenna too.

These shots are great, Pete. It’s so good to see the underside. Not sure I was holding my head the right way to see that doggy toy though. ๐Ÿ˜‰
