A few cabbage butterflies have recently showed up in my garden. Altho’ the common names are the same I think we may have a different species (Pieris rapae). Superficially at least they look the same. (Both females have 2 black spots on their wings.) From what I can tell you have both in the UK β P. rapae being a bit smaller. Confusion reigns (at least with me!)

Yes, you are right, Sally. P. rapae, the Small White is very similar to the Large White, and we have both here. They can be confusing, for me too π
