This is the Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus) waiting to catch a bite to eat. It is also known as the Garden Cross Spider, and you can see why.

Thank you, Jude 🙂 I have always liked them from a young age, and they have always been a familiar sight in the garden. I don’t believe she was cross with me, lol 🙂
