Viola arvensis
This small plant has beautifully delicate white to creamy white flowers with a flush of yellow in the centre and radiating purple streaks. They open up fully only in strong sunshine. The leaves are oblong-shaped and toothed.
It flowers May to October, and is found on arable land. A common and widespread species.

Beautiful. We have a little Violet like this that has yellow with blue stripes. It is classified as a wild plant and it has spread in a large area of our yard. Love these delicate little flowers.

I love violets, too. I have some that just pop up at random in my gardens. I never planted them, so maybe they have always been there.

Looks more like a cultivated pansy in someone’s garden. I’ve never heard of pansies growing wild which reinforces the fact that I learn something new nearly every time you post, Pete. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Vicki 🙂 I was suprised to see it in the middle of a famer’s field when I first saw it. It looked kind of lost, they are so small. But there was a bunch of them, and they were so very pretty.

We usually have a lot of these but mostly they freeze in the wintertime. Some may survive but we have to plant new ones every spring
