Sure are, little helicopters π I remember throwing them up in the air when I was kid, and watch them spin around and around to the ground. I still do now, on occasion, lol!
π Yes, that’s the only problem they readily seed and grow quite quickly if you don’t pull them out. My folks had 4 such trees in our back garden when I was younger.
I grew up in New York, where as children we would do the same with the samaras of the maple trees. We would also pry apart the proximal end and stick the samara on our nose.

So do I. Lol I have one here and the seedlings pop up all through the vege garden. Forever pulling them out.
